While Ron embarked on a regimen of daily exercise culminating in joining the Rock Steady Boxing family, I followed a different Parkinson’s path and was invited to join the board of directors of PANC in November 2013. I bring an administrative and financial background to the board and was elected treasurer in April 2015.
What about PANC make you most proud?
I’m so proud to be able to share my enthusiasm for PANC and the services we provide to our Parkinson’s community throughout our region. It’s hard to pick a single passion among so many, including the annual educational conference and expanding the support group network, but I’d have to say being a part of the development of the ParkinsonWISE® program has to rank near the top.
We know that “movement is medicine” and being instrumental in bringing education about Parkinson’s disease and tips on dealing with symptom issues for the clients of fitness and wellness professionals in the community opens huge opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to venture into their neighborhoods for caring, knowledgeable professionals at fitness centers, yoga, massage, Pilates studios and more. So very rewarding!!!
